Antique Persian Sultanabad Large Carpet

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A strip-style pale blue-grey to muted sky-blue main border of pinecone palmettes and arched leaves surrounds a warm ecru-to-ivory field with a slightly offset pattern of broken and barbed connecting leaves, radiating floret modules, and rounded rust-red to coral octofoils. The design is accented in dark blue, teal, tan, soft brown, and pale blue-grey. This tracery forms interlocking lozenge, cartouche, and lobed-diamond reserves.
