Antique Persian Bakhshaish Gallery Carpet

This very striking NW Persian village kellegi (long rug) shows a mostly open dark brown well-abrashed notched sub-field centered by stepped and waisted rose red hexagonal medallion enclosing leaves resembling birds and other geometric devices, all on the medium blue ground. Light blue border with rosettes and slanted leaves forming a zigzag. Moderate rustic weave on cotton. Good condition. A beautiful rug in a traditional format.
