An antique Persian Bidjar carpet. The mink brownfield abrashes darker at one end of the well-filled Herati pattern ground. The inner ivory border is seen on both Kurdish weavings – as this rug is – and on south Persian tribal pieces as well. The dark brown turtle border is by far the most popular of Bidjar frames. Bidjar carpets are always extremely sturdy and even worn ones can go another century or so, and this example is not worn at all.
