Antique Persian Mahal Carpet

An antique Persian Mahal carpet. The brick field displays legless turtle palmettes, short ‘fish’ leaves, giant open lozenges and  cogwheel motives in a typically eclectic pattern accented in green, goldenrod, sand , pale blue-grey and ivory. There is no true red or dark blue. A ‘tangerine flower’ border on abrashed slate to brown frames this west Persian village room size carpet.
