Antique Persian Malayer Runner

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Ecru-to-straw corner pieces with radiating flowers frame the pale sage-gray field, which displays an allover arrangement of Herati modules in three offset columns. The pattern is rendered primarily in rust, salmon, beige, muted gold, and soft brown. The broad rust-orange, strip-style main border features octagonal ivory rosettes and geometric floral devices, flanked by eggshell minor borders. This border pattern appears on many village and tribal rugs woven throughout western Persia.
