An antique Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. This beige-ground map of Persia has the country vaguely resembling the body of a domestic animal supported by the Persian Gulf. Light blue cartouches in the red border contain identifying remarks and a date of 1343 (probably 1924, since 1965 is rather unlikely). Important regions, bodies of water, mountains, and cities are noted on this well-woven urban geographic pictorial scatter.
