An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. This well-woven NW Persian city large carpet has adopted the Harshang (Crab) design, but miniaturized it, so that the deep slate ground supports small ragged palmettes, rosettes, tilted ovals, and floret arrays in a close allover repeating style. The wide border frame includes a closely packed brown main stripe with escutcheon palmettes and tiny birds.
