Antique Tabriz Persian Carpet

An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. A small scale Herati allover pattern shows up as vertical brown bands on the slightly abrashed beige ground. The warm brown border is contrastingly big and bold with curvy turtle palmettes and detailed “fish” leaves. The field recedes and the border advances giving a three-dimensional depth to the carpet.
