Antique Turkish Oushak Large Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The sandy straw field of this urban creation displays a “Smyrna” allover pattern of three columns of reversing ragged palmettes and two columns of “Yaprak” leaves with open diamond medallions. Small hooked diamonds separate the palmette pairs. The rusty tangerine main border presents octofoils-in-octagons, rosettes, and slanted hyacinth sprays.
