A vintage Persian Afshar rug. A four by five array of grey-blue hexagons with informal double ashik palmette centers is set on a sandy ivory field with skeletal intermediate elements in dark brown. The whole effect is both textile and Turkoman-like. A characteristic Afshar border of V-shaped small flowers on a central line in a herringbone manner surrounds the whole. The SE Persian Afshar tribes have an incredibly wide design repertoire available on their popular scatters.
