Vintage Persian Malayer Runner

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The light grey-slate field features a design loosely rooted in the Herati pattern: the open diamonds have been reconfigured into a tall, fringed central pole medallion, while the leaves, rosettes, and other elements form open cartouches, crosshatched squares, and herringbone feathers. The straw main border includes two types of reversing abstract flowers and a broken, incomplete trapezoidal meander.
