Antique Persian Bibikabad Oversize Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The muted slate blue-grey to green-grey field displays a barbed, hexagonal allover lattice, with each reserve enclosing a sharply drawn floral quatrefoil in sand, beige, taupe, soft brown, pale ochre, and occasional rust. The strip-style tan-to-warm-beige main border features interlocking, reversing turtle motifs with octagonal and palmette centers. A broad plain slate-green to blue-grey band surrounds the composition, accompanied by six narrower minor borders.
