A tawny, quizzical lion stands alone facing left on the abrashed red ground, within an ivory border of whimsical red roses and other quasi-vegetal elements. This tribal rug is a product of the Qashqai tribe in southwest Persia and was woven in the early 20th century. The lions were copied from British Army blankets from World War I.
