Antique Persian Sultanabad Oversize Carpet

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The straw field shows an erratic display of pointed cartouche medallions, interspersed with others of the same shape rendered in straw and decorated with quadruple daisies and other floral elements. The pattern appears uniformly repeating at first glance, yet it continually changes across the enormous length. A symmetrized strip-style rust main border features the tangerine flower repeat of triple florets and rosettes, while teal minor borders show botehs.
