An antique Turkish Oushak long oversize carpet from the early 20th century. This medium blue-green allover pattern Oushak has an implicit central axis around which geometric palmettes, hyacinth sprays and various quasi-abstract, quasi-floral elements are organized. The pattern is very vaguely reminiscent of “American” Sarouks, but less formulaic and livelier. The spacious field drawing continues in the cream border of rosettes and broken vine bits.
